| The winch is powered by a Volkswagen 1100 motor and connected alternatively to two drums where 1.7 diameter in mm. At a maximum length of 1000 m. and attached to the winch's cables the student pilot is slowly lifted into the air as the cables are retracted and can fly at 300-600 m depending on the wind conditions. It is also possible to go as little as 1-2 m off the ground by modifying the speed of the retraction of the cables. |
A paraplegic boy in flight. After simulation practice on the ground, he takes off with the help of the winch. The first flights are at 1-2 m off the ground. |
After maximum height, the student is uncoupled from the cable and glides to the ground for a landing. The timing of the landing depends on the length of the field and intensity of the wind. |
The wheel chair is constructed from soldered steel and a roll bar has been added for maximum security. The designers are Angelo Trucca and Silvio Ponziani. |
