| The Great Plain of Castelluccio di Norcia is surrounded by grassy hills. No other location is so perfectly suited to the sport and instruction of free flight. So much so, in fact, that many European free flight schools bring their students to this enchanting location for instruction. At 1200 m slm., it is not accessible during winter months. In the background is Monte Guaidone. |

The massiveness of Monte Vettore, on the right, has an elevation of 2478 m. slm and faces the sun creating a breeze able to carry pilots in flight beyond the crests. The altitude record for flight from Castelluccio di Norcia is 4200 m achieved by Franco Barone in a hang glider in a wind condition referred to as, "volo in onda," or flight on a wave. |
