PROGRAMMA DEI CORSI

BASE COURSE

Seven-day course includes progressive, theoretical and practical instruction Monday through Sunday or in a series of weekends. The initial lessons impart the fundamental concepts of assembling the glider, position according to wind direction, and short runs on a slope to get a feel for the wings. The first flights are from a low, small slope. Later in the course, flights will be executed in straight lines and with small turns in a semi-positioning of the body of the pilot. Registration in the course includes: use of equipment, accident insurance coverage through RC, registration in the Prodelta Club sport association, lessons, textbook and transportation to the flight field.

COURSE PROGRESSION

  • Instruction in equipment used and ground preparation

  • Preflight verification procedures

  • Adjusting the harness

  • Adjusting the coupling straps

  • Regulation positioning the hands in case of an accident

  • Brief course in aerodynamics

  • Piloting on the ground

  • Short, straight flights

  • Flights with small turns

  • Take-offs on different slopes

  • Using the two-way radio

  • Flights up to 20-30 m

  • Placement of the hands on the piloting bar

  • REFRESHER / INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Three days of theory and practical experience, Monday through Friday or in a series of weekends. Beginning with a quick review of the base course using an intermediate hang glider. Subsequently, flights with more turns will be practiced and the positioning of the pilot will be extended. At the end of the course, the first high altitude flight will be carried out with a flight plan on the "Piano Grande," or Great Plain of Castelluccio di Norcia. The registration in the course includes: Accident insurance coverage through RC and lessons.

    COURSE PROGRESSION

  • Same program as the Basic Course using the intermediate hang glider

  • Take-off in light or no wind

  • Take-off in lateral wind

  • Using the emergency parachute

  • Flight at medium altitude

  • Turns of 90 and 180 degrees

  • Execution of a flight plan

  • High altitude flight

  • ADVANCED COURSE

Five days of theory and practical experience or in a series of weekends. High flights will be carried out as well as 360 degree turns, flying at maximum speeds, medium speeds and stalling, exploiting moderate flying conditions at medium altitudes for prolonged flight, precision landing and "top landing, " or landing on take-off point. Registration in the course includes: Accident insurance coverage through RC, lessons. It is preferred that the student uses his/her own equipment.

    COURSE PROGRESSION

  • Approach to "8"

  • Approach to "C"

  • Precision landing

  • Exploration / evaluation of speeds

  • Stalling

  • Stalling in a turn

  • Turns of 360 degrees in an inclination of around 45 degrees

  • Gliding in upward dynamics

  • Gliding in a thermal current

  • Top landing

  • Flights in various places
